In the wake of all that is happening in our area and around the world with regards to the Corona Virus, our Bishop of the North Georgia Conference has requested that our churches cancel all meetings and activities for the next two weeks, including Sunday morning worship. Just as many schools, colleges, and jobs have been closing and preparing for an extended absence due to this virus, so too must our churches. I know there are many of you who feel this is an appropriate measure and what we must do to ensure the health of ourselves, our families, and our communities. I know too that there are some who deem this as an overreaction to a less than serious threat. While this may seem so I assure you that these extra steps of caution may prove to be exactly what was needed to snuff out this virus. Yes, there are those of us who could quite easily overcome this virus, but we must be mindful of those in our families and communities who may be more at risk due to their age or health circumstances. While we might not be at their level of risk, we are still able to be carriers of a virus that could infect these more at-risk individuals resulting in a tragedy. I urge you to be mindful of your interactions with individuals in the coming days especially those who are more at-risk. Be sure to take extra steps of precaution in cleanliness to keep you and your loved ones safe. I know you all have seen and heard numerous lists of precautionary measures we can and should be taking to help prevent the spread of this virus, so I won't go into great detail here. My primary request is that you just be mindful that you too can be a carrier of this disease to those whom it may be a greater threat.
If you would like to continue participating in worship by giving, I assure you this is much appreciated. While our ministries may seem to be temporarily suspended our church expenses are not. You may send a check to our Church that we may count towards an offering at PO box 490, Flowery Branch GA, 30542. If you’d like to be in contact with me, feel free to call or email me with any concerns or prayer requests you may have.
In the meantime, I ask that you continue to be in prayer with me for our medical professionals, our government and its leaders, and all of those who have been affected by this virus. Grace & Peace, Pastor Chris McCain Christopher.email@example.com 334-790-5418

Food Ministry - Hams needed for Easter Boxes The next ‘Love Boxes’ for the families we serve with our food ministry will be filled and delivered on Friday, 4/10/2020. The Food Ministry is getting ready for the Easter Boxes with special items for an Easter dinner for each family. We expect to serve between 30 and 40 families. Kathy Prater and her Food Ministry elves have been busy buying up hams and other items for this love offering! As you know the meat counters at many stores have been nearly empty. It is amazing that they have already purchased some hams! Kathy has her "people" at some of the stores that know what she needs and help her save time and money. There is still a need for 10 more hams as of 3/22. Other items needed are rice, green beans and mushroom soup for green bean casseroles. As the hams are hard to get, you may have to check each time you venture out to do your own shopping. Due to the health situation we are in, please do not make an extra trip to purchase these items. If you would like to make a monetary donation, you may do so by mailing a check to FBUMC and mark the memo line for Food Ministry. A special drop off day has been set aside for you to bring your donations to the church. April 1 ( no foolin :-) )from 2p -4p, the Food Ministry team will be at the church for you to drive by and leave your items in a box which will then be picked up by the team. Social distancing is important and so this way we can receive your food donations safely. On Friday, April 10, the team will hand out the boxes to the families in need, again with a drive up service only. Please keep Kathy and Angie in your prayers as they go about the stores to meet the needs of this food ministry to our community. Also, pray for Bea Simmonds who is still not feeling well enough to help this month. Blessings, The Food Ministry Team Thank you Kathy Prater; Angie McIntyre and Bea Simmonds for heading this important ministry.
